We believe in a collaborative and flexible approach to deliver exceptional care, education and service to our families.
Investing in and retaining the highest quality staff:
Recognising that the happiness of our children and families starts with our people. We do this by employing staff who are passionate and dedicated to nurturing and developing children, and create an environment where they are supported, empowered and valued for their contribution.
Accommodating the diverse needs of our families:
By offering flexible sessions and pricing options including no set start or finish times, generous grace periods, and discounts for holiday bookings. We also allow swap days where possible and flexible notice periods for booking changes. All this adds up to our families’ out-of-pocket expenses being up to 30% less than other centres with similar fees.
Owner operated:
Little Locals’ owners are intimately involved in our operations, which ensures a high-quality service and allows our educators and management team to focus on our staff, children and families.
Family first mindset:
Embedded in our team’s culture is the drive to deliver outstanding service to our families and children.
Our daily fees are all-inclusive.
No surprises or extra charges for activities. Our fees include everything from nappies, bedding and chef-prepared nutritious meals; to activities (sport, music, gymnastics and nature-play), education/extra-curricular (Bush Kindy, foreign language, health and wellbeing, environmental and sustainability programs) and excursions (e.g., to museums, parks, farms, zoos and more).

Education Philosophy
We adopt a variety of the world’s leading theories and approaches to ensure children’s learning and development is at the centre of everything we do. We take a collaborative approach to the learning process where we observe and adapt our teaching techniques to support the individual needs of each child. We listen attentively to their ideas and perspectives and tailor our curriculums and programs to suit, utilising a variety of proven strategies from meeting the child where they are, to providing structure and support along the way.
We understand that each child’s learning and development is influenced and enhanced by a variety of external factors and environments, which is why we incorporate the following into their daily experiences:
Family & Culture
Celebrating the individual characteristics of each child by partnering with parents to understand personality, culture and values.
Health & Wellbeing
Prioritising each child’s basic, psychological and self-fulfilment needs from nutrition and health, to positive social skills, relationships and self-esteem.
Connection to Nature
Our programs incorporate environmental and sustainability education and action, to ensure we always lead by example. Our centres are purposely built with natural environments to support this. We are also endorsed by Nature Play Queensland.
Community Participation
Enhancing a child’s connection to their community through exposure to new experiences, people and places to build a sense of belonging and identity beyond the centre and home environment.
Social Learning
Applying social constructivism theories to support collaborative learning experiences where children work together to reach their goals. Children and teachers collaborate, negotiate, question, discuss and hypothesise to learn together. This helps to build strong trusting relationships with educators, peers and a sense of belonging in their environment.
