Nursery and Toddlers
In our infant and toddler classrooms we encompass a family like environment for our youngest children. Our infant and toddler holistic wellbeing is of upmost importance at Little Locals Bundamba. We provide a respectful environment that is rich in learning possibilities and provides a safe space for our children to unfold naturally in their own space and time. Our mission is to grow competent and confident learners that are secure in their sense of belonging and socialising with others.
Juniors and Seniors
In our junior and senior classrooms we provide a safe learning environment whilst preparing children to transition to Kindergarten. Each individual child is unique in their own way and we understand that all children learn differently. We believe our environment acts as the third teacher and we set up inviting provocations that provoke thought and wonder for our children to extend their current interests on a deeper level. Through play based learning we develop their emotional, cognitive and social capabilities, at the same time empowering children to express ideas and make connections.
Kindergarten (4 ~ 5 yrs)
Our Kindergarten room is managed by university-trained Early Childhood Teachers, specializing in the Early Years. The program is delivered in alignment with the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and Early Years Framework. We provide experiences which allow children opportunities to develop a range of skills, knowledge and dispositions for learning that we believe will set them up for life long learning. We aim to provide children with opportunities that will allow them to:
- Be intellectually challenged and engaged
- Collaborate with their Teachers, Educators, and other children (through discussions, interactions, enquiry, and planning of their own ideas)
- Take ownership and responsibility for what they are generally interested in and have accomplished
- Experience pride and satisfaction when problem solving for overcoming obstacles and challenges
- Apply their own learning through purposeful and playful ways
- Develop a sense of belonging to both Little Locals and the wider community
Kitchen
Little Locals Bundamba employs a qualified Chef to provide healthy and nutritious meals for all of the children. All the meals are prepared onsite and are planned in alignment with the Nutrition Australia Guidelines. We offer a 4-week rotational menu for each season of the year to ensure that children are provided and exposed to a variety of different food groups.
We are committed to supporting local so where possible we have partnered with local green grocers, fruit shops and butchers to source our supplies. We will create edible gardens for our Chef to access and they are also part of our day to day educational programs with our children.
Ipswich City Council monitors our Kitchen annually along with a private auditor and we currently hold a 5 Star Rating in alignment with the Eat Safe program.
Our outdoor eatery creates a homely feel for children at meal times. It’s a time for conversation, role modelling, nurturing healthy habits and trying new flavours!

Here at Little Locals we believe that our children will benefit most from improved sustainability practices so we are always ensuring that we provide children with support and ways in which they can learn to care and show respect for the environment. At Little Locals we teach children how to care for our environment by helping to recycle all cardboard, paper and plastic containers. Our centre also encourages children to develop a bond with the natural environment through gardening, sorting, observing, creating and participating in a program that utilize natural mediums.

In addition, our staff have annual child protection, food safety and fire safety training. All members of staff hold current blue cards.
As you are your child’s first teacher, you know best so when it comes to saying goodbye, rest time routines, settling techniques, etc, we want to be made aware of what works for you and your family at home. It is natural that you and your child will be anxious to start with, especially if they haven’t been in care before. A child’s first day will almost certainly include nerves, excitement and often, a few tears. Follow our post on what you can expect on your child’s first day as well as a few suggestion to make the transition easier. To remove as many hassles as possible for busy parents, the centre provides, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and all meals. We ask that you simply bring along; 2 x changes of clothes, a hat, a water bottle and sheets for rest time. We understand goodbyes can be hard for all involved; read our post for advice on Separation Anxiety and saying goodbye.
