Classrooms tailored to your child’s learning needs
Nursery and Toddlers
(0 ~ 2 yrs)
In our nursery and toddler classrooms we encompass a family like environment for our youngest children. Our nursery and toddler holistic wellbeing is of upmost importance at Little Locals Bracken Ridge. We provide a respectful environment that is rich in learning possibilities and provides a safe space for our children to unfold naturally in their own space and time. Our mission is to grow competent and confident learners that are secure in their sense of belonging and socialising with others.
Juniors and Seniors
(2 ~ 4 yrs)
In our juniors and seniors classrooms we provide a safe learning environment for all our children. Each individual child is unique in their own way and we understand that all children learn differently. We believe our environment acts as the third teacher and we set up inviting provocations that provoke thought and wonder for our children to extend their current interests on a deeper level.
Kindergarten (4 ~ 5 yrs)
Our Kindergarten room is managed by university-trained Early Childhood Teachers, specializing in the Early Years. The program is delivered in alignment with the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and Early Years Framework. We provide experiences which allow children opportunities to develop a range of skills, knowledge and dispositions for learning that we believe will set them up for life long learning.
We aim to provide children with opportunities that will allow them to:
- Be intellectually challenged and engaged
- Collaborate with their Teachers, Educators, and other children (through discussions, interactions, enquiry, and planning of their own ideas)
- Take ownership and responsibility for what they are generally interested in and have accomplished
- Experience pride and satisfaction when problem solving for overcoming obstacles and challenges
- Apply their own learning through purposeful and playful ways
- Develop a sense of belonging to both Little Locals and the wider community

Frequently Asked Questions
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government subsidy that offers different levels of financial assistance to help cover the cost of childcare for Australian families. How much you receive depends on your individual circumstances. Prior to enrolment, please make sure you are the registering parent under Centrelink for your child.
Find out more detailed information for Understanding CCS on our Resources page.
It is important that you ensure you say goodbye to your child when you leave and make sure that the teacher or educator in charge knows that you are leaving. We understand goodbyes can be hard for all involved however to continue building a safe and trusting relationship we strongly acknowledge that you say goodbye and not ‘slip away’ Our educators and teachers will acknowledge any feelings and emotions that you and your child may be having and support you throughout the entire process.
We find that attending ‘play dates’ before your child’s actual start date make those first initial drop offs’ easier for both child and guardian. This can help the child get used to their environment and educators and help yourself develop a bond with the educators.
As you are your child’s first teacher, you know best so when it comes to saying goodbye, rest time routines, settling techniques etc, we want to be made aware of what works for you and your family at home. Our teachers and educators will ask you for your advice and input and will also in return provide you with this information. At Little Locals we aim to provide an open-door policy and believe that communication is the key to any great relationship so please do not hesitate to ask any questions or provide feedback.
To remove as many hassles as possible for busy parents, the centre provides, hat, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and all meals. We ask that you simply bring along; 2 x changes of clothes, hat, and a water bottle. If your child requires any medication or special creams, please ensure they are brought in labelled and with any applicable Action Plans.
As part of our commitment to learning, we conduct excursions out of the centre to follow on children’s interests. Prior to any excursion taking place, parents will be advised in writing with all the required information about the planned excursion. No excursion will take place until we have received written consent from families.
Here at Little Locals we believe that our children will benefit most from improved sustainability practices so we are always ensuring that we provide children with support and ways in which they can learn to care and show respect for the environment. At Little Locals we teach children how to care for our environment by helping to recycle all cardboard, paper and plastic containers. Our centre also encourages children to develop a bond with the natural environment through gardening, sorting, observing, creating and participating in a program that utilize natural mediums.
