Kitchen

Little Locals Morayfield employs a qualified Chef to provide healthy and nutritious meals for all of the children. All the meals are prepared onsite and are planned in alignment with the Nutrition Australia Guidelines. We offer a 4-week rotational menu for each season of the year to ensure that children are provided and exposed to a variety of different food groups.

We are committed to supporting local so where possible we have partnered with local green grocers, fruit shops and butchers to source our supplies. We have created edible gardens for our Chef to access and they are also part of our day to day educational programs with our children.

Moreton Bay Regional Council monitors our Kitchen annually along with a private auditor and we current hold a 5 Star Rating in alignment with the Eat Safe program.

Centre Manager - Jan Cripps

I have worked in the early childhood industry for the past twenty-one years and am inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy; it was great to see this in action during my visit to Reggio Emilia Italy. The natural environment and real-life materials are essential to educate children in challenging but fun ways, which is why I love Little Locals passion for sustainability, bush Kindy and their commitment to supporting children’s growth and development. I have been blessed to be a Centre manager for the past fifteen years and believe working in partnership with families and educators to support our little future citizens reach the very best of their learning and developmental capabilities.

I’m excited to get to know you all and look forward to supporting you and your child’s journey at Little Locals Morayfield.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CCS and how do I apply?2022-04-13T16:05:19+10:00

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government subsidy that offers different levels of financial assistance to help cover the cost of childcare for Australian families. How much you receive depends on your individual circumstances. Prior to enrolment, please make sure you are the registering parent under Centrelink for your child.

Find out more detailed information for Understanding CCS on our Resources page.

What is included in the daily fee?2022-04-13T16:06:30+10:00

At Little Locals we want to take as much hassle away as possible and that is why we have included all meals, nappies, wipes, excursions, and extra curriculum activities (language programs, Pilates etc).

Any advice on separation anxiety and saying goodbye?2022-04-01T12:32:10+10:00

It is important that you ensure you say goodbye to your child when you leave and make sure that the teacher or educator in charge knows that you are leaving. We understand goodbyes can be hard for all involved however to continue building a safe and trusting relationship we strongly acknowledge that you say goodbye and not ‘slip away’ Our educators and teachers will acknowledge any feelings and emotions that you and your child may be having and support you throughout the entire process.

We find that attending ‘play dates’ before your child’s actual start date make those first initial drop offs’ easier for both child and guardian. This can help the child get used to their environment and educators and help yourself develop a bond with the educators.

How do we communicate with families?2022-04-01T12:33:32+10:00

As you are your child’s first teacher, you know best so when it comes to saying goodbye, rest time routines, settling techniques etc, we want to be made aware of what works for you and your family at home. Our teachers and educators will ask you for your advice and input and will also in return provide you with this information. At Little Locals we aim to provide an open-door policy and believe that communication is the key to any great relationship so please do not hesitate to ask any questions or provide feedback.

What do I need to bring?2022-04-01T12:35:05+10:00

To remove as many hassles as possible for busy parents, the centre provides, hat, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, and all meals. We ask that you simply bring along; 2 x changes of clothes, hat, and a water bottle. If your child requires any medication or special creams, please ensure they are brought in labelled and with any applicable Action Plans.

I’d like to know more about Sustainability at Little Locals2023-01-26T14:31:35+10:00

Here at Little Locals we believe that our children will benefit most from improved sustainability practices so we are always ensuring that we provide children with support and ways in which they can learn to care and show respect for the environment. At Little Locals we teach children how to care for our environment by helping to recycle all cardboard, paper and plastic containers. Our centre also encourages children to develop a bond with the natural environment through gardening, sorting, observing, creating and participating in a program that utilize natural mediums.
